DR. DUNCAN MURRAY RECREATION CENTRE
OVERVIEW Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre is located at 805 Switzer Drive (across from the pulpmill). Please click the link for arena details COURTS There are 4 indoor courts at the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre for squash, racquetball, walleyball and basketball. Equipment rental is available. Tennis courts are located at Gerard Redmond Community Catholic School and Harry Collinge High School. There is no charge for use on a first-come, first-serve basis. SWIMMING POOL The pool facility includes a 6 lane, 25m indoor main pool with a climbing wall, rope swing and an assortment of inflatable toys, kids pool, hot tub, steam room and wheelchair lift. SPORTS FIELDS There are a variety of sports fields adjacent to the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre including 4 baseball diamonds, 2 soccer pitches, football field, 400m running track and food booth. These facilities can be booked by calling 780-865-4412. Please click here for fees and charges. The Youth Centre is free to all youth ages 13-17 and includes game tables, music, TV lounge, PlayStation, X-box, wireless internet and information and referral services. Call 780-865-6036 for information and hours. LIBRARY The Hinton Municipal Library is located adjacent to the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre. SKATEBOARD PARK The Hinton Skateboard Park is one the top skate parks in Canada! One third of the park is a street section with ledges, rails, flatbanks and pyramids. One third is bowls with 8ft extensions and one third is a 5ft deep snake pit. There is a pipe-vertical wall with 3ft vertical with pool coping and tiles. Lit for night riding. TRAILS Hinton maintains a 20km gravel trail system and many kms of paved trail for walking, running and bicycling. Access to the gravel trails is located behind the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre and access to the paved trails is located in front. The Hinton Mountain Bike Association also maintains a trails system. Maps for both are available at the Customer Service Desk.
